THE mum of a young boy with leukaemia has thanked hundreds of people who came forward to help save his life.
More than 900 people were tested at a donor drive on Saturday to find a bone marrow match for eight-year-old Elliot Wild.
And to his delight, Liverpool FC goalkeeper Brad Jones attended the event at Higher Bebington School, to encourage others to get tested.
His own son, Luca, has also been diagnosed with the disease.
Elliot’s mum Jackie Wild, 41, said: “We were amazed at the response, 924 came forward and they were queuing out of the door.
“We want to say a big thank you, people came from all over, as far as Blackpool and Bury.
“We now need to try and top this number at our Liverpool event planned for November 7.”
Elliot was first diagnosed in April 2009, to the shock of Jackie and husband Ian.
He went through 12 months of aggressive chemotherapy at Alder Hey which initially worked.
