HUNDREDS of people braved wet and windy conditions to take part in a emotional coastal walk to remember fallen Wirral soldiers.
The 15-mile walk on Sunday was organised by the family of Rock Ferry soldier Private Douglas Halliday, who died in Afghanistan in June when the vehicle he was travelling in overturned into the Nahr-e Bughra canal.
It was held as a mark of respect for Pte Halliday, the three soldiers who died in the same incident and fallen soldiers past and present.
Almost 200 people registered to take part, with dozens more thought to have joined in along the route.
Many of the walkers were close friends of Pte Halliday and wore t-shirts with his photo on.
His cousin and organiser Helen Fisher said: “The atmosphere was brilliant and the feedback has been so positive.”
