Nuisance tenant evicted from Bidston estate

A HOME which became a magnet for anti-social behaviour was shut down.

The property on the Ballantyne estate, in Bidston, was targeted by officials following repeated complaints since last winter, when occupants moved in.

Allegations were made about drug dealing and large groups of young people being intimidating, fighting, threatening behaviour, cars speeding and the use of weapons.

Officers from Wirral Anti-Social Behaviour Team, working with Beechwood and Ballantyne community housing association, gathered evidence from residents and police served notice on the tenant. She subsequently left.

Inspector Roy McGregor from Merseyside Police and Laird Street Neighbourhood team said: “I am absolutely sure that the action we took resulted in the tenant giving up her tenancy. Had she not, I am confident from the evidence gathered by the police, Anti-Social Behaviour Team and our partners, that this would have resulted in a Closure Order being granted and the property being sealed.”
