Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology gets top marks in PEAT assessment on hygiene and food
WIRRAL hospitals gained top marks in an assessment of patients’ food and surroundings.
The Patient Environment Action Teams (PEAT) annual report gave favourable scores to all the region’s hospitals.
It looked at three areas – environment, food and privacy and dignity, and awarded ratings ranging from “excellent” to “unacceptable”.
Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology scored “excellent” in all three categories.
Arrowe Park was rated “excellent” for its food and environment and “good” for privacy and dignity.
Clatterbridge Hospital, run by the same Trust as Arrowe Park, scored “excellent” for food and “good” in the remaining categories.
The assessment checked NHS hospitals and units throughout England.
Nurses, doctors, patients and members of the public scored them on aspects like cleanliness, infection control and decoration.
Nationally 87% of hospitals were rated either excellent or good for their environment.
Head of Nursing at Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology, Judi Ebbrell said: “We are delighted to be recognised as excellent by the assessment.
