Local band The Soviet record at Abbey Rioad Studios.

THE Soviet have sped along a fixed trajectory since their formation in January.

The four-piece from Merseyside have gone from rehearsing in a bedroom to supporting the Happy Monday’s.

They recently recorded their first album 19 Hours at Realistic Studios, Birkenhead.

Next week they will be in London at Abbey Road Studios, finalising the album with Geoff Pesche, who has produced, amongst others, Radiohead, Coldplay, Gorillaz and Kylie Minogue.

The first single from the album, ‘Breaking Bread’, is available from www.thesovietmusic.com.

The video for the single features Holly Matthew, of Biker Grove fame.

David Hall, the lead guitarist for the band, from Bootle, describes their music as "hard edged Indy music."

Hall compares The Soviet to The Stereophonics.

The band will complete their first live radio performance on 7 Waves Radio based in Hoylake on Thursday July 1.
