A WIRRAL mum whose daughter, son and sister died at the hands of others has been honoured at an awards ceremony.
Jean Taylor, of Greasby, who founded support group Families Fighting for Justice, took the title of unsung hero at the Spirit of Merseyside Awards on Thursday.
The 60-year-old set up the group two years ago in a bid to help other families who have lost loved ones to murder and manslaughter.
She is campaigning for tougher sentences for offenders and has attracted the support of more than 2,000 people.
Jean said: “I didn’t realise I was getting the award – I thought I was just attending the ceremony.
“I was humbled and extremely honoured to receive it.
“I don’t do what I do for awards.
“I’m not a hero – I’m just a caring person in the community who, through the dark place I found myself in after losing loved ones, tries to help others.”
