A 57-YEAR-OLD man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving following a collision in Spital on Thursday afternoon.
At around 12.30pm, a black Mazda and a blue Rover 75 collided at the junction of Spital Road, St Andrews Road and Church Road, opposite the Three Stags Hotel.
The arrested man was driving the Mazda and was left trapped after it overturned.
He was freed by emergency services and taken to hospital to be checked for whiplash injuries.
The Rover 75 driver, a 48-year-old man, was left uninjured and was able to walk away from the scene.
He was taken to hospital to be checked over, as a precaution.
Resident Harry Price was at the scene following the collision, he said: “The hatchback was upside down on the wrong side of the road.
“It must have spun completely and ripped the back of the car off.
“The Rover 75 only had superficial damage to the front wing.”
