More than 120 participants and guests headed down to Park High for a cultural evening with a difference

MORE than 120 participants and guests headed down to Park High for a cultural evening with a difference.

The event saw the launch of the Action Amal scheme, which caters for families and individuals with less opportunity to access physical activity due to religious and cultural constraints.

The programme offers climbing, a fitness suite, boxercise, table tennis, netball and aerobics to participants.

Children’s activities include pre-school activity, trampoline and multi-skills, while segregated male and female activities are organised and delivered by high quality, qualified and friendly instructors.

Action Amal has been piloted over the last few months and has grown in popularity.

There is an emphasis on health and it is a unique opportunity for such families to access such activity in an environment that meets their needs.

Amira Musa, a teacher at Action Amal, said: “You will get the help you need here.

“I have lost three stone since October, everyone can achieve their dream here.”

The evening also included a reception serving Indian, Chinese and Thai cuisine.

The launch was observed by Mayor of Wirral, Cllr Alan Jennings.

He said: “It is a wonderful programme and it warms your heart to see people benefit from a programme that enables them to access opportunities which they would not otherwise be able to do.”
