Mayoress of Wirral Kathy Hodson looks back on year in office

WIRRAL’S mayoress Kathy Hodson is determined her year of office will end on a spectacular note.

But even the outgoing Mayor – her husband Andrew Hodson – doesn’t know what she has up her sleeve for her grand finale as the borough’s First Lady.

The Mayoress says she is currently spending almost every waking minute planning the Mayor’s Ball which will take place at Thornton Hall Hotel, Thornton Hough on Friday (May 7).

Kathy, 51, said: “All I can reveal is that it will be a spectacular evening to end what has been the most fantastic 12 months.

“Andrew doesn’t know what will be happening on the night. He’s leaving everything to me.”

Renowned for her striking wardrobe, the mayoress isn’t giving any hints about her dress for the Mayor’s Ball.

She said: “It’s a secret. I decided on the colour some while ago when I saw some particularly beautiful blooms in the florist’s. Then I found a dress in that shade.

“The only other person who knows what it’s like is Geoff Dale, general manager at Thornton Hall Hotel – and he’s had the task of matching up the colour scheme of the room to the dress.”
