You may have more pressing political concerns on your mind, but don’t forget next week is Compost Awareness Week

YOU may have more pressing political concerns on your mind, but don’t forget next week is Compost Awareness Week!

Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority and the Recycle Now campaign have joined forces to encourage everyone to try their hand at composting, improve their garden and do a little to help the environment along the way.

Composting can be tried even if you only have a little outside space.

With a bin bought from a nearby DIY store, you could soon be turning your egg shells, tea bags and even coffee grounds - alongside other food waste – into excellent nutrients for house plants or borders.

Director at MWDA Carl Beer said: “This Compost Awareness Week we are encouraging everyone to give composting a go.

“Even those of us who are already composting at home could compost more things more often, or try new things.

“However you choose to get involved, there are plenty of new things you can try, which will not only help the environment but also help your garden grow greener.”
