Wirral man running two marathons, a half marathon and a traithlon in memory of sister-in-law and nephew

A WIRRAL man is running two marathons, a half marathon and a triathlon in memory of his sister-in-law and nephew, who were killed by a drink driver.

Matt Wilson, 35, is hoping to raise £1,234.50 by running the London Marathon, Chester Marathon, Chester Half-Marathon and Harlech Triathlon.

He hopes the money raised will go to support families affected by similar incidents and educate people about the consequences of drink driving.

The money will go to SCARD (Support and Care After Road Death and Injury), a charity to support people affected by road accidents and drink driving, Claire House and Touraid.

Mr Wilson, of Arrowe Park, lost his sister-in-law Nicola Waller, who was eight months pregnant, in 1998 when the car she was driving was hit head on by a driver who had been drinking and lost control of his car. Her fiance and daughter escaped with minor injuries.

Mr Wilson said: “

“If it helps one person to stop and think before drink driving then I feel it has been successful , regardless of how much money I can raise.”
