Wirral Coastal Walk organisers look for new members

DON’T just take part in the Wirral Coastal Walk – help organise it.

The Rotary Club of North Wirral organises the 15-mile around Wirral’s coast every year and is looking for new members.

The club works throughout the year on a string of community projects and fundraising events alongside the Coastal Walk and last year supported 25 local charities.

Annual events include a Rotary Art exhibition and Jazz Night, plus a weekend in Snowdonia for severely handicapped children.

Members volunteer during the year on community work like beach and path cleaning.

The club’s Jim Costello said: “Preparations for this years Wirral Coastal Walk are in full swing.

“The Coastal Walk has grown into one of the biggest fund raising events on Merseyside with 5000 walkers turning out last year raising an estimated £350,000 for their chosen charities and the North Wirral Club are hoping this years turn out will be even bigger.

“But there is much more to the Rotary Club of North Wirral than the Wirral Coastal Walk.

“There are also local community projects such as an Interact Club at Pensby Girls School which the club was instrumental in setting up.

“Of course the Rotary Club of North Wirral is part of Rotary International, a global organisation and as such supports a number of international projects. So if you feel you would like to give something back to your community and make new friends why not come along and join us.”
