NEARLY £300,000 will be commissioned for young people’s services in Wirral.
Split into two pots, the money will be available to address issues like anti-social behaviour, teen pregnancy, education, homelessness and drug and alcohol abuse.
The £182,000 Youth Capital Fund is for schemes like building refurbishments, equipment and youth shelters.
For items of less than £6,000 in value, the Youth Opportunity Fund supplements the capital aspect of the grant for “things to do and places to go” developments or other smaller items.
The money could also be used to enable music, drama, employment, and environmental projects
Both funds will be divided equally between the four Wirral districts, delivering £45,000 of the Youth Capital Fund and £25,000 from the Youth Opportunity Fund.
Applicants must apply for the Youth Capital Fund to qualify for the Youth Opportunity Fund.
The highest scoring projects will be asked to present their ideas to the Young People’s Commissioning Group in April.
l To apply, contact the Youth & Play service Office on 0151 637 8370 for an application pack. The deadline is Wednesday March 10.
