THE Wheatsheaf Inn in Raby is holding a fundraising night next month in aid of a charity which has supported a Wirral teenager fighting cancer.
Ollie Battye, 19, from Thornton Hough, was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma – a form of bone cancer – in January last year.
She has been helped through gruelling chemotherapy sessions by staff from CLIC Sargent, a charity dedicated to providing nursing for children and teenagers dealing with cancer.
Sister Georgie and her boyfriend Ben are running the London Marathon in April to raise money for the charity.
Georgie’s schoolfriend Nick Richards is also running – and has organised the sell-out night at the Wheatsheaf, where he works in the Cowshed Restaurant.
He said: “Ollie is only 19 but has been so inspirational to everyone who knows her. She has been spreading the word about CLIC Sargent in order to raise as much money as possible for them, whilst going through multiple chemotherapy sessions herself.
“I felt compelled to do my bit, thus doing the marathon along with Georgie and Ben.”

The Celebrity Masterchef finalist took part in the show with Vanessa and her mum Vivien Gladen.
The show will air on BBC2 on Tuesday March 2 at 4.30pm.
Pat Faragher, director of fundraising at the Bebington-based hospice, said: “We are grateful to Mark for his tireless fundraising.”
