Wirral jazz musicians holding charity concert in aid of Haiti

JAZZ musicians are holding a charity concert to help the aid effort in diaster-struck Haiti.

Jazz 4 Haiti will take place on Sunday, February 21 at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton starting at 2.30pm and featuring some of the area’s best-known and most popular musicians.

It has also received the “Royle” seal of approval as one of the comperes for the event will be Ricky Tomlinson, lining up alongside Ray Owens.

The star has also promised to take along his banjo and strum some tunes.

All proceeds raised from the concert will go to the British Red Cross Haiti Disaster Fund.

Tony Davis, of the Tony Davis Jazz Band, said: “We felt we had to do something to help. We’ve got all the big Wirral bands playing, as well as two from Liverpool city centre.”

The confirmed line-up for the event represents a who’s who of the local jazz scene – The Big Easy, Blue Magnolia Jass Orchestra, Merseysippi Jazz Band, Panama Jazz Band, Down Town Dixielanders, Peninsula Jazz Band, Tony Davis Jazz Band, The WirrOrleans and the Savoy Jazz Band.
