THE great bins catch-up will be completed this week, according to Wirral Council.
Snow and ice in the first weeks of the year created a backlog and residents have complained about recycling and garden waste strewn across pavements.
The council says waste contractor Biffa will take additional side waste left with bins this week.
But any waste that would contaminate the load will be collected at a later date.
Director of Technical Services, Dave Green said: "Under normal circumstances, we do not allow green and grey bins to be emptied into the same wagon.
"If a grey recycling bin is heavily contaminated, special arrangements are made for collection, including an investigation into the levels of contamination.
"We would not condone the mixing of waste from green and grey bins and are always grateful to residents for contacting us if they are concerned that this may have happened. Any reports are referred to Biffa, our waste contract partner, and we always ensure that they take appropriate action."
Brown bin (garden waste) collections will resume next week.
