PEOPLE living in Wirral are being asked for their views on a masterplan for the long-term development of the borough.
Wirral Council is launching the consultation in the latest stage towards agreeing the new Core Strategy, which will replace the Unitary Development Plan adopted in February 2000.
The strategy will provide a broad direction for development and investment in Wirral over the next 15 years and will identify appropriate uses for all land in the borough.
The public is being asked for comments on the council’s latest report on the strategy, which has been drafted in the light of feedback received through previous consultation.
The full process will be completed in 2011, when the Core Strategy has been agreed by the council and signed off by the government.
Council leader Cllr Steve Foulkes said: “The Core Strategy will play a major part in determining how Wirral develops and functions for many years to come.
“It is therefore vital that we consider all of the issues carefully and ensure that local people are given a genuine opportunity to help shape it”.
