Consultation begins over joint site plan for Stanley Special School and Pensby Primary

A CONSULTATION starts today (Wednesday) over plans to locate a special school with a primary school.

Wirral Council is seeking views on proposals to put Stanley Special School on the same site as Pensby Primary School – moving from its current building at Thingwall.

The proposal would involve rebuilding the two schools to cater for 100 pupils with complex learning difficulties at Stanley Special School and 210 mainstream pupils at Pensby.

The consultation will seek the views of children, parents, staff and the community.

The schools would remain separate but would have common areas and facilities which could also be available to the local community, including extended services, hydrotherapy, leisure pools, meeting spaces, indoor sports, gym and drama facilities.

It is expected that the new Pensby Primary School building would open in September 2011, with Stanley School up and running the following year.
