Neston market traders fear it will have to close after Sainsbury’s superstore moves into town

“Every stall in this basement is being affected and by the time Sainsbury's is built and the access is open again there will be nobody left.

“It’s going to be a big loss and take away a part of Neston’s character.

“This situation is an absolute blow to the people of Neston.”

Neston and Parkgate Councillor Pat Hughes says the council is doing everything it can to help the market stay afloat.

He said: “We’re hoping to put a huge banner up on the side of Viscount House near the Town Hall and other banners around the area to let me know about the market.

“We hope this will attract people back again. ”
