Wirralians urged to share skills in Cascade community project

A COMMUNITY project is asking Wirralians to step forward and showcase their skills.

The Cascade Project is running events across the borough to give people an introduction to different hobbies and subjects.

The project aims to promote the informal sharing of skills between friends and neighbours, so demonstrations are given by residents with a particular talent or skill instead of a teacher.

Skills being shared at festive-themed events month include making floral garlands, cards and decorations, preparing meals from leftover festive food, jewellery making and belly dancing to help lose those extra pounds.

Events take place at the following venues:

l December 1: St James Centre, Birkenhead, 10am to 1pm

l December 1: Tranmere Community Project, 5 to 8pm

l December 3: Pemberton Centre, Woodchurch, 2 to 6pm

l December 7: Charing Cross Methodist Centre, 2 to 5pm

l December 8: Millennium Centre, Leasowe, 2 to 5pm

l December 9: Courtney Park Community House, Rock Ferry, 2 to 5pm

l December 19: St Paul’s Church, Rock Ferry, 12noon to 3.30pm

All events will be filmed by Wirral TV, and participants interviewed by 7 Waves radio.

Further Cascade events are planned for the New Year. If you would like to showcase your skills, or want to find out more about Cascade and the events being planned for the New Year, contact Martin or Jenny at the St James Centre, 344 Laird Street, ring 670 9974 or e-mail cascadewirral@btconnect.com
