Police step up festive patrols around Wirral shopping areas

POLICE are stepping up patrols to stamp out Christmas crime in and around Wirral’s shopping areas.

Birkenhead and Wallasey officers will be out in force in the run-up to the festive season to keep streets safe for shoppers.

There will be increased patrols at the Grange and Pyramids, Birkenhead and the Cherry Tree Centre, Liscard until December 31.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Katie Wilkinson said: “During the lead-up to Christmas, shopping areas can become very busy and we want to ensure this doesn’t lead to an increase in shoppers becoming the victim of any sort of crime.

“We will be out in force targeting shoplifters, anyone causing disorder or alcohol-related or violent offences.

“Our aim is to ensure the busy shopping areas remain a safe environment for all the family to enjoy.”
