Wirral Arts: Oxton Art Fair is back at Williamson Art Gallery

OXTON Art Fair returns to the Williamson Art Gallery for its sixth year this weekend, and the line-up is bigger than ever.

More than 20 artists will be showing, and discussing, their new work across a range of mediums, from traditional paint, to crafts, pop art design, jewellery and photography, as well as a developing strand in eco- art.

Now spread across four rooms in the Birkenhead gallery, the fair offers an eclectic mix of creativity from some of Wirral’s most active artists.

New for 2009 are Liz Glover Hadwin’s black and white photographic portraits in natural settings, Eimear Kavanagh’s Asian inspired prints and collage, while Jayne Turner will be displaying her range of pop art houseware and clothing.

The fair provides a real opportunity to view a broad range of work and styles, under one roof, and find out more about the artists themselves and their influences.

Demonstrations will run throughout the weekend, and a craft table will be up for children to experiment.

l Oxton Art Fair is open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday November 7, and between 10am and 4pm on Sunday November 8, at the Williamson Art Gallery and Museum, Slatey Road, Birkenhead.
