Not in my Neighbourhood week
CRIMEBUSTERS in Wirral are joining forces to tackle anti-social behaviour.
Merseyside police, Wirral council and residents’ groups have teamed up for Not In My Neighbourhood week.
The initiative, which runs until Friday, is encouraging individuals and organisations to work together to keep streets safe.
The week will include environmental clean-ups, free home fire safety checks, advice on tackling anti-social behaviour as well as information and help about good parenting.
Operation Payback will also see offenders removing bonfires in the run-up to and during Bonfire Night as part of community work sentences received at court.
Another part of the week, Operation Banger, will see shops being given advice on the sale of fireworks, alcohol, flour and eggs to young people.
Not in My Neighbourhood is running in 80 areas across England and Wales.
Chief Inspector Bob Gittins, from Merseyside police, said: “Wirral continues to be one of the safest areas to live and work.
“This is an opportunity to send a message communities will not tolerate anti-social behaviour and are prepared to do something about it.”
