School Champions: Wallasey School 4x4 team

Wallasey School 4x4 challenge team

Wallasey School 4 by 4 challenge team – made up of staff, pupils, governors, LEA and  members of the local community – completed a massive challenge this Easter and have so far  raised £20,000 for Claire House.

The group walked 87 miles through England, canoed 74 miles across Scotland, cycled 168  miles across Wales and ran 133 miles across Ireland.

It took almost three years of planning and training to get four teams ready for the event which saw 73 people cover a total distance of 3,552km.

The entire school community got involved in supporting the team and Wallasey School believes this is truly reflective of their mission statement ‘Wallasey School – A caring and  achieving community’.

In 2002 a team of staff from the school also completed the three peaks challenge in under 24 hours to raise money for Whizz Kids and in 2005 the school became the first to row non-stop across Scotland via the Caledonian Canal, setting a new world record of 45 hours and 33 minutes, as well as raising over £7,000 for Children in Need.

Robin Dutfield, 4 by 4 challenge team leader said: “I’m so proud that our hard work has been recognised. We have raised so much money and put in so much hard work.”
