Police warn of Wirral registration plate theft

POLICE are warning car owners about an increase in registration number plates being stolen from parked cars.

The plates are attached to other cars and used by criminals to drive around undetected in a stolen car committing crime.

Officers in Wirral have reported a marked increase in the problem in Birkenhead in recent months.

They are advising motorists to contact their local car dealer about tamper-proof screws, which are widely available.
