Calls for council to replace library’s chairs after closure plan revoked

WALLASEY Village library is now unable to host community group meetings because its furniture was sold off after it was announced it was being shut down.

The “Friends” group at Wallasey Village Library had sold off furniture and other items earlier this year after the council gave a date for its closure. The Friends group was also disbanded.

Now Wallasey councillors Lesley Rennie and Paul Hayes are calling for the council to replace the furniture.

Cllr Hayes said: “I have written to the Director of Regeneration asking that he contacts the Friends of Wallasey Village Library and offers to replace all items which were sold.”

A council spokeswoman said the director of regeneration, Alan Stennard, was “seeing what can be done to help”.
