Sentimental window ruined
A WIDOWER was left heartbroken after vandals smashed his late wife’s stained glass window.
Ron Burke, of West Kirby, was woken in the middle of the night when sharp pebbles smashed through the window.
The 74-year-old bought the sentimental emblem with his late wife Beryl almost 20 years ago for £500.
He said: “We got the window with some money my father left us in his will because we wanted to get something special that would remind us of him.
“It became Beryl’s pride and joy and when she passed away it became very sentimental to me.
“To think some vandals have just smashed up something so beautiful is very upsetting and I have been left quite shaken by the whole thing.
“It will now cost me £75 and the insurance company will pay the rest to repair it – but it will never be the same.”
