One week to nominate Your Champions 2009

YOU only have a week left to nominate your local heroes for the Your Champions Awards.

The closing date is next Tuesday, October 6.

Laurie Cain, 14, of Woodchurch, is one of our latest champions.

Pauline Graves, who nominated her as young champion of the year, said: “Laurie is a volunteer dance teacher at S.N.A.P club, Saturday Night Activity Project.

“She engages with around 40 children, aged between 8-18, each week.

“She teaches them a dance, which they then perform to everyone in S.N.A.P club, as she wants to help them gain confidence.”

All you have to do to nominate is log on to www.wirralnews.co.uk and follow the Your Champions link.

Categories include, Champion of the Year, Champion School of the Year, Champion Team of the Year, Sporting Champion of the Year and Young Champion of the Year.

Area winners will go forward to a final judging session and all the successful category winners will receive their awards on November 6.

Jane Clare, Executive Editor of the Wirral News, said: '”We have had some fantastic entries so far.

“But we want even more so we can give your heroes the recognition they deserve.

“People have days left to send in their nomonations... do it now!”
