Idea will open doors
ARTISTS working out of Hoylake and Meols are wanted for a new exhibiting concept aimed at developing community and broadening the appeal of visual arts.
Originally from Ontario, Canada, Hoylake-based artist Micheline Robinson is hoping to develop an annual Open Studio Tour in the area and wants “professional artists and serious amateurs” to get in touch.
Micheline told Wirral Arts: “The idea is for artists that work from home to open their studios to the general public so they can see what’s going on, often with refreshments like tea and home-made biscuits.
“When I lived in Vancouver, I was part of an Open Studio Tour there, and it was good because it brought the community together.
“It works because you become known in the community.
“I don’t know how many people know I’m an artist, to many I’m just their neighbour.’’
Micheline added: “You can have prints for sale, or original artwork for sale.
“The main thing is to get people to open up.”
