Exhibition by recovering substance users at Wirral Met

AN exhibition of work created by recovering substance users is on display at Wirral Met this week.

Birkenhead ARCH Initiatives’ clients were inspired to create their own pieces during a trip to Liverpool’s Tate Gallery, the first time in an exhibition space for many and “a real journey of discovery”, according to arts and crafts tutor, Mike Cunningham.

He said: “Clients have been surprised at the quality of work produced and are proud to have their work in an exhibition.”

Using found objects, household paints, plaster and wire, among other materials, the artists seek to offer interpretations on social roles and aspirations, personal philosophies, optical illusions and different perceptions.

The show runs at Twelve Quays until Friday at 4.30pm, and until 9pm on Thursday.
