Mother of murdered Birkenhead woman Chantel Taylor opens drop-in centre for grieving families

THE mother of murdered Birkenhead woman Chantel Taylor has opened a drop-in centre for grieving families.

The Families Fighting for Justice (FFJ) centre in Liverpool is the first of its kind in the UK, and will offer advice and support to those whose loved ones have been killed.

FFJ, which campaigns for tougher criminal sentences and greater rights for bereaved families, will also offer help with day-to-day tasks such as ironing and housework.

FFJ founder Jean Taylor, from Greasby, said she hoped the centre on Seymour Street in Liverpool city centre would strengthen the group’s political influence.

She said: “This is a giant step forward for FFJ. After years of planning we’ve finally got our centre.”

Mrs Taylor’s daughter, Chantel Taylor, a 27-year-old mother-of-three, was killed by Stephen Wynne in 2004.

Esther McVey, Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Wirral West, has worked with the organisation since it started and cut the ribbon at the opening of the centre.

The centre is open from 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday at 19 Seymour Terrace. For more information call 238 1900 or visit www.familesfightingforjustice.com
