NEW Brighton’s Floral Pavilion Theatre and Conference Centre has won a prestigious environmental award.
The Wirral theatre achieved the Silver Award from the nationally recognised Green Tourism Business Scheme.
Rob Smith, Head of Arts and Museums at Wirral Council, says: “This achievement is a credit to everyone involved with the development of the Floral Pavilion Theatre and Conference Centre. “The GTBS Silver Award is a nationally recognised quality standard, acknowledging our efforts to minimise environmental impacts whilst providing top quality services.
“This award will support our marketing and promotion as a national contender for the conferencing and meetings sector, and continue to develop our role at the forefront of the economic, cultural and social regeneration of New Brighton.”
After a comprehensive Technical Assessment, the assessor found that the development – opened last December after a multi-million pound investment - boasts many areas of best practice.
Businesses are assessed against a rigorous set of criteria, covering a range of areas, like energy and water efficiency, waste management, biodiversity and more.
This recognition puts the Floral Pavilion on par with other Merseyside Silver Awards winners, such as the Holiday Inn Liverpool, Gateway Conference Centre, Tate Liverpool and Radisson SAS Liverpool.
