Wirral restaurants in the Good Food Guide

TWO Wirral restaurants have been heralded in the latest edition of the Good Food Guide.

Italian eaterie Da Piero, on Mill Hill Road in Irby, scored Best New Entry in the national tome of quality dining after being recognised for its ambitious cooking techniques, balance and depth of flavour in dishes and its consistent use of high quality ingredients.

The guide describes Da Piero as offering “food that fills you with joy”, while customers and guide readers reported that the little restaurant leaves you “feeling happy with the world”.

Elsewhere Oxton establishment, Fraiche, on Rose Mount, climbed to 30 on the list of the UK’s top 50 restaurants.

Fraiche was also recognised for its wine list, scooping the prestigious Wine List of the Year 2010 award.

Alongside the variety of tasty tipples, Good Food Guide reviewers note its “flavour-filled, mind expanding menus” as the restaurant seeks to push the boundaries of contemporary dining.

Elizabeth Carter is editor of the Good Food Guide 2010, she said: “It is good to see Wirral continuing to do well in The Good Food Guide, and the two awards for the area, Fraiche and Da Piero, are in their different ways a unique and fabulous addition to its restaurant scene.”
