IT’S a wildlife-packed week in Wirral, with plenty of activities to tempt even the most confirmed couch potatoes out into the natural world.
Tomorrow, there’s a Woodland Activity Afternoon at Eastham Country Park.
Take a closer look at the trees in Eastham Woods, follow the tree trail and help create a huge tree collage. This event is free and there is no need to book, but children must be accompanied by an adult. The event runs from 1-4pm at the Visitor Centre on Ferry Road. Details from 0151-327-1007.
Friday sees European Bat Night, marked with a Guided Bat Walk. Join the Wirral Country Park Rangers on a guided walk to the Dungeon Woodland to search for the bats that inhabit this ancient wooded valley.
Learn more about their ecology and biology and try out an electronic bat detector. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Call 0151 648 4371/3884 to book your place in advance.
On Saturday, there’s a Night Walk with Barn Owls.
Enjoy a talk by Steve Harris of The Wirral and Cheshire Barn Owl Trust and afterwards go for a Ranger-led walk and see the Barn Owls hunting – hopefully. Book your place in advance by calling 0151 648 4371.
On Sunday, the Telegraph Station on Hilbre Hilbre Island will be open and the Friends of Hilbre will be leading short guided walks and seal watching.
Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. For details call 0151 678 5488.
