Arrowe Park Director suspended in waiting times probe

A DIRECTOR has been suspended as part of the growing investigation into allegations of waiting time irregularities at Arrowe Park Hospital.

Director of nursing and midwifery Michael Monaghan has been suspended “without prejudice” for the duration of the probe.

His suspension follows that of A & E manager Maria Jeffery in July, but the move against such a senior figure has stunned staff.

Mr Monaghan is a registered nurse and held a number of positions at the Wirral hospital.

His main role on the trust board is to “improve patient experience”.

Sources report fevered speculation in the hospital as to the progress of the enquiry as it seemingly moves further up the chain of command.

The investigation however has a broad remit and may be stretching back to earlier positions held at the hospital as opposed to conduct while Mr Monaghan has been in his current position.
