Now Keith Raybould, crime reduction manager for Wirral Chamber, said it was joining forces with other agencies to reduce crime against firms in the borough.
He said: “It is our intention to make the whole of the Wirral a no-go area for criminals and the Wirral Chamber of Commerce already successfully runs a number of business crime reduction initiatives including the Shopwatch and Pubwatch Schemes which ban offenders throughout Wirral.
“Together with Wirral Council, the police and other agencies, it is proposing to initiate Business Neighbourhood Action groups throughout Wirral in order that businesses may have a regular forum for discussion and problem-solving with these agencies.”
The CCNW survey also showed that crime does not discriminate against the type of business, with almost half the respondents in each business sector reporting at least one crime in the last year.
Any business or group of businesses who wish to participate in the Wirral Scheme can call 0151 647 8899.
