Anti-flu drug Tamiflu, which is being used to combat Swine Flu
SWINE FLU, or H1N1, is a respiratoiry disease that affects pigs and is caused by a flu virus.
There are regular outbreaks of swine flu in pigs, which typically become ill but rarely die. A new strain of the virus affects human and is spreading from person to person, with more than 1000 people affected in the UK so far.
It can affect healthy people and the young, as well as the people usually at risk from normal flu.
Symptoms can include fever, cough, headache, weakness and fatigue, aching muscles and joints, sore throat and a runny nose.
