THIS Friday is World Environment Day, and there are a host of green events to celebrate.
The highlights are on Sunday, with a Up Hill and Down Dale guided walk over Heswall Dales and along the Wirral Way through the Dungeons from 10.30am-12.30pm. Meet at Oldfield Road off Quarry Road West in Heswall. Book beforehand on 0151 648 4371.
That afternoon, Wirral Country Park rangers are organising a special bee day. Our buzzy friends are in decline, so the team, based at Thurstaston, will be showing how to make a bug hotel and how to make their stay in your garden more comfortable from 1.30-3.30pm. You’ll have to book in advance on 0151 648 4371.
And Ness Gardens is hosting Your Planet Needs You, a day to combat climate change. It’s the perfect time to visit Ness – their laburnum arch is in full bloom. The North West’s largest of its kind, the beautiful 20 metre long display is a real treat. Ness Botanic Gardens, Ness, Neston, CH64 4AY. Entrance £5.75 per adult. children go free. Details from 0151 353 0123 or www.nessgardens.org.uk.
