Bird lovers in a flutter in Wirral

Paul Cook, curator at Ness Gardens, said: “It’s great that the birds have decided to visit our garden and it was their quite distinct call that gave them away.

“Our pine trees were all planted at the same time and are quite established, and they seem to have attracted the birds. The birds are difficult to spot, fluttering high in the tree tops, and may have decided to stay in the garden due to the abundance of food in our pine wood.”

He added: “It’s unusual for them to be seen in this area, but there must have been a good population born last year and they’ve spread across a wider area this year.”

The gardens are now hoping the pair may even breed in the pine woods.
