Birkenhead MP Frank Field publishes his expenses

His website split the claims into three categories, listed as communications allowance, incidental expense provision and additional costs allowance.

The 2007/08 figures reveal that Mr Field filed receipts of £160 for the installation of a digital TV aerial, £79 for a clock radio and £299 for a LCD TV, as well as £200 for “misc ents”.

He also generally claimed £200 a month for cleaning, alongside similar amounts for council tax and food expenses.

Under incidental expenses, he claimed for office supplies, providing receipts, but also, between August 2007 and February 2008, he claimed a total of £1,750, or £250 per month, for “petty cash”.

His Labour colleague, Angela Eagle said she hoped to publish her full expenses this week.

The MP for Wallasey said: “It is a matter of public record that I don’t claim the maximum amount available.

“I can see why people are angry and I too have been shocked by some of the revelations.”

While Wirral West MP, Stephen Hesford told the News he’d be “happy” to let the public see his receipts. adding : “Get a new system and clean it up as soon as possible.”
