Burglary victims can reclaim gems

POLICE are looking for the owners of a haul of jewellery stolen in a series of burglaries at homes across Wirral.

Officers recovered the stolen property, including rings, watches and bracelets, from a house in Prenton last Monday.

The items were taken during 28 burglaries thought to have been carried out in Wallasey Village and New Brighton between January 4 and February 20.

James Rickett, 43, of no fixed abode, admitted the offences and has been charged with two domestic burglaries, with another 26 taken into account. Rickett also pleaded guilty to two armed robberies in Crosby, and has been remanded in custody.

Six burglary victims have already had their property returned but police are appealing for more to come forward.

A police spokesman said "We have recovered a large number of items which we believe have been stolen.

“Pictures of a selection of the items have been placed on our website.”
