A TALENTED Wirral designer was named in a top fashion blog this week.
Birkenhead-born Rachael Taylor’s designs appeared on www.printpattern.blogspot .com – a prestigious site, used by fashion experts all over the world, that celebrates the world of surface pattern design.
Rachael moved to Leeds five years ago and had her first solo exhibition called stitched at the Brahm Gallery, Leeds, in 2006.
She was then awarded first prize in the Janome creative competition for a layered paper skirt design.
As well as appearing in the blog, the freelance surface pattern designer and textile artist has recently had her work published in a current design book called Patterns, by Drusilla Cole LKP publishing.
Four pieces of her work have also been selected for the forthcoming Print & Pattern book which will be out in 2010.
She said: “It’s hard work but becoming a freelance designer is the best thing I’ve ever done.
“I now have a variety of clients in the UK and USA, which keeps me busy.
“Having my designs recognised in the blog is really good as I use it all the time in work for research.”
