WIRRAL News has joined forces with Wirral TV to bring readers access to a video archive of events that happen in the borough.

This unique and exciting partnership will provide countless hours of film content on our website for everyone to view and enjoy.

Wirral TV is an online community TV company that shoots informative, fun and exhilarating videos about life in Wirral.

Since its launch in April, its library of more than 280 short films has had a million hits – with more than 80% coming from Wirral.

Recordings explore everything from horoscopes to the redevelopment of St Catherine’s Hospital, school film festivals, large outdoor events like the Wirral Show and charity events like Age Concern’s Wear A Hat Day.

Mike Power, business development manager for Wirral TV, said: “The range of films to view is broad and varied with something for everyone, whatever your interests or age.

“As well as our website, our films are shown on Sky Community Channel OC167 and on the Life Channel, broadcast on screens in more than 180 doctors’ and dentists’ surgeries in the area. As well as providing an extensive selection of footage, we provide opportunities for community groups and residents.”

The company is owned by five of the most deprived neighbourhoods in Wirral and trains and employs long-term unemployed people by instructing them in the art of film making – 75% of these students are now in full-time employment.

Mike added: “We are proud of our success so far and are looking forward to our future and working with the News.”
