Santa’s visit to Wirral Farmers' Market

THERE will be celebrations all round at this month’s Wirral Farmers’ Market.

Father Christmas and his elves, otherwise known as Cllrs Alan Taylor, Bob Moon and Steve Niblock, will be handing out stockings full of fresh fruit to the first 80 children attending.

The fruit has been provided by Eddisbury Fruit Farm and Fresh Naturally, of New Ferry. Stockings were made by the New Ferry Craft Club.

Pupils from Grove Street Primary School will be singing carols around 10am. ScottishPower has again provided a Christmas tree.

Wirral’s Scout Post will be available at the Friends of Wirral Farmers’ Market stall, giving visitors a chance to have Christmas cards delivered locally and help a good cause.

Farmers’ Market chairman Anne Benson said: “The December market always has a really good atmosphere.”

There will be turkeys, game, beef, ostrich and buffalo as well as Christmas puddings, cakes and mincemeat. You can also pre-order your Christmas shopping to pick up at a later date.

There will be chocolates, plants, olive oil, chillies, beer and chutneys.

The market will offer its usual variety of produce including olive oil, olives, fresh seasonal vegetables and a variety of fish, pies, beef, lamb, cakes, chocolates and fresh herbs.

Wirral Farmers’ Market is on Saturday, December 13, from 9am-1pm at the village hall in Grove Street. New Ferry.
