WIRRAL News readers have been debating the council’s plans to close libraries and sports centres on our forums.
Here are a small selection of your comments:
Angus: “Yet again Wirral Council is taking us in the wrong direction. It cites energy saving as one of the reasons yet does not mention the increased travel distance for hundreds of people.
“At a time of soaring energy costs and climate change, we need to be relocalising essential services and creating more vibrant, resilient local communities and economies.
“This is not the way to achieve this!”
Magellan: “Nothing less than criminal disregard of their responsibilities to the people of Wirral.”
JoannaMc: “This is an absolute disgrace. What sort of disgusting person is Steve Foulkes that he should think fit to do away with our heritage and waste our money on modern monstrosities.
“The beautiful buildings in Birkenhead and Wallasey should be renovated, if necessary, and preserved for future generations to enjoy.
“Steve Foulkes and his supporters need to be kicked out of office before they do any more damage. They are certainly not fit for purpose.”
VictorMeldrew: “It’s time everyone got off their behinds and attended council cabinet meetings, providing, of course they don't use their powers of “exclusion” which they will inevitably do.
“Mass attendance at the cabinet meetings will ruffle feathers and may cause some councillors to think twice about the un-democratic decisions they are making.”
