Wirral police workers in court accused of corruption

TWO police workers from Wirral and six other men, including one from Wirral, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday accused of corruption.

The civilian police workers, Stephen Kell and Kevin Mighall, who are suspended from work, are charged, along with the others, with conspiracy to commit corruption.

It is believed the investigation by the Professional Standards division of Merseyside police relates to the awarding of contracts for building and refurbishment of police properties.

The defendants are 51-year-old Kell, of Queen’s Avenue, Meols; Mighall, also 51, of Dorchester Road, Noctorum; Clifford Elliot, 60, of Manor Drive, Upton; David Lloyd, 59, of Calderstones, Liverpool; Alan Cooper, 52, of Allerton, Liverpool; Alan Coslett, 50, of Eccleston, St Helens; Paul Moy, 46, of Dark Lane, Lathom, and Paul Gaskell, 34, of Aughton.

Judge David Swift remanded the men on unconditional bail until April 17 when they are expected to enter their pleas.
