Alan Veste and Phil Bimpson
THE inaugural Wirral International Film Festival begins at the Queens Hotel on Park Road East, Birkenhead from 2pm today.
From small acorns do mighty oaks grow, and organisers Phil Bimpson and Alan Veste are hoping this week's run of 96 films, across a range of genres, will be just the beginning for this event.
From Monday to Friday, and between 2.30pm and 8.30pm, the work of Wirral film-makers will be on show, completely free, with an awards night to follow as the week closes.
Monday is all about music videos and the efforts of the peninsula's under-16s, Tuesday and Wednesday are short films, Thursday animation and documentary and Friday feature films.
We'll be updating the schedule each day, so keep an eye on what's coming up and go to our forum to leave your comments and thoughts on how the Festival pans out.
