NEIGHBOURS have paid tribute to a Woodchurch mother-of-two who died in a house fire.

Angela Ives, 44, died on Saturday after a blaze broke out at her home in Orrets Meadow Road, Woodchurch, at 8am.

Fire crews from Upton and Birkenhead were called to the scene after her sons, believed to be twins, managed to escape and raise the alarm.

They were taken to Arrowe Park Hospital for treatment but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Neighbour Barbara Murphy said: "She had a partner Stephen and I believe she used to work for a taxi firm.

"Angie was a lovely woman – blonde, slim and so elegant. She was very friendly.

"She was a busy woman, always in and out and doing things so lots of people knew her to say hello to.

"Her boys were always playing outside and they were a credit to her. We’ll miss her very much."

A Merseyside fire service spokesman said: "When we attended, the children had managed to escape and tell neighbours who alerted us.

"We discovered a woman in a bedroom.

"The cause of the fire is still under investigation. It is not thought to be suspicious.

"There are some lines of inquiry that investigators are pursuing."
