Clatterbridge charity is offered a new charity shop by mystery well-wisher

Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology

CLATTERBRIDGE Cancer Research says a well-wisher has offered it a rent-free shop in Bebington after a row over the closure of its gift shop at Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology.

The charity has been told it must vacate the premises in February because Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology is expanding its own fundraising activities.

The man, who has asked to remain anonymous, told the charity he had planned to sell his shop - but now wants the charity to have it.

Clatterbridge Cancer Research chief executive Jane Simpson said: "This is a wonderful gesture and one we will explore immediately.

"It will mean a great deal to our volunteers and supporters if we can continue to raise money locally for our research.

"We know that progress in the research field is the only way to combat cancer in the north west and it is essential that we do everything in our means to sustain our work."
