WIRRAL is marking National Anti-Bullying Week with a series of awareness events.
Yesterday (Tuesday) teaching and other school staff attended a conference on homophobic and cyber-bullying at Wirral Professional Development Centre in Bebington.
A Young People’s Day is taking place at the same venue on Thursday.
This year’s Anti-Bullying Week is focusing on how differences are often at the heart of bullying.
Councillor Phil Davies, cabinet member for children’s services, said: “Zero tolerance has always been our stance on bullying and we have a number of important initiatives aimed at handling this issue.”
All schools in Wirral have anti-bullying policies, with initiatives including a Friendship Week at Weatherhead High School, Wallasey, anti-bullying leaflets developed by pupils at Wirral Grammar School for Boys and trained peer mentors at Park High School, Birkenhead.
